Geophysics

Cemetery Mapping & Unmarked Burial Detection

Near-surface geophysical techniques, including ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electrical resistivity, magnetometry, and electromagnetic conductivity, have become primary tools in the detection of unmarked human interments.  The main advantages of these techniques are that, unlike archaeological excavation, they are relatively rapid and do not involve grave disturbance.  Geophysical methods offer an alternative to stripping, excavation, or other invasive tests, which are often not acceptable to agencies, landowners, Native American tribes, and other groups.  We utilize the following techniques for cemetery projects:
